THE IROQUOIS HISTORY AND LEGENDS PODCAST

Who We Are

Greetings to one and all. "Iroquois History & Legends" is hosted by Andrew and Caleb Cotter, brothers from Canandaigua, New York with an affection for history.  Growing up they both had a fondness for Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) stories and fables. After doing a lot of reading on early American and Canadian history they found that the Haudenosaunee  were at the center of it all and yet school text books leave their contributions out almost completely. Therefore Andrew and Caleb began this podcast to show how the Six Nations were in the mix and influenced almost all major events in the 17th, and 18th centuries. The Six Nations are not just a relic from the past. Their members continue to influence and contribute to the global society in the present day as well.  They walk looking seven generations in the past and keep their minds towards the seven generations to come.
-----
By profession, Caleb is a contractor, musician, and craftsman. Andrew is a history and English teacher with a background in linguistics.
They have given numerous talks and lectures at historical societies and museums across Upstate New York.

Who We Are Not

Although Andrew and Caleb have many friends, acquaintances and hundreds of listeners who happen to be members of the Six Nations, this show is not endorsed by any indigenous body or council. They are just two guys looking to learn and share with the world an often overlooked piece of history.

To quote Faith Keeper Jake Thomas,
"There are no experts in Iroquois Culture. When we come together we say that we put our minds on the table. That way if you have knowledge that I can use, I can borrow it, and if I have knowledge you cause, you can borrow it. We always have somethings to learn."

Join them as they learn about the Haudenosaunee and their dealings with the European powers.
